How Movement and Breathwork Improve Focus at Work

We weren’t designed to sit still for eight hours.

When our bodies stiffen, so does our focus. Movement and breathwork reawaken the parts of us that stress and stagnation shut down.
Even a few minutes of stretching or conscious breathing can improve clarity, posture, and mood — which is why I love integrating these practices into corporate wellness sessions.

Here’s a simple focus reset you can do at your desk:
Sit tall and take a deep breath in for 4 counts.
Hold for 4.
Exhale for 6.
Repeat 5 times.

Then roll your shoulders back, unclench your jaw, and let your body soften.
When your body relaxes, your brain performs better.

The science backs it: increased oxygen flow improves cognitive performance and reduces fatigue. But more than that — it reminds people they’re human, not machines.
